Wendy Metcalfe

I studied law and qualified as an English solicitor (attorney), working in the profession for over a decade. After time as personnel and training managers I walked out of my last day job a few years ago. I have taught creative writing for over a decade. I am now a full time writer and write my young adult and adult science fiction books over a steaming cup of cappuccino in my local cafe.

I have a fascination for big cats, especially cheetahs and lions. My work explores my interests in feminism, ecology, and alternative intelligence, and examines how future technology and human expansion into the stars will impact human and alien societies and ecosystems.

Intelligence is not only human... but how will humans react when they meet sentient trees, starships, bomb disposal machines, and Mindpods? And what if we were able to speak to the consciousness of the universe itself? This collection of short stories explores the challenges humans will face in accepting such beings.
