Evan Knapp

Biography

Evan Knapp worked in the live theatre for over 30 years, first as a dancer, then a dancer/singer/actor (AEA, AGVA) then teacher, dance captain, assistant choreographer, choreographer, ballet master, director, co-writer/director and award-winning producer. Between gigs and to supplement, he's also worked in restaurants, construction, warehouses and slung coffee at various shops. He’s managed and maintained rental properties, worked as a consultant, live-in care-giver and held various professional positions in the corporate world. He also delivered singing telegrams while riding a unicycle in a gorilla suit. In New York, Evan owned his own business, urban edge, ltd., making handmade crocheted hats, Barneys New York his largest client. In 2014, Evan graduated from college. Where There Is Movement is his second published work. The first, titled "Minimum Wage Blues," came out in Portland Review, April 1990. After decades moving around, working all over the country and a bit abroad, he again lives in Portland, Oregon.
