Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
My father would sometimes take us to his work and let us play with the word processor in the back room. I remember the first story I wrote was about knights, kings, and dragons. I don't remember the plot, but I'm sure it was horrible and there was probably an attempt at a twist ending.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
A couple of years ago I had a dream, and then it turned into a story. I never planned on publishing it. I sent it to a few of my friends, and they seemed to like it. The people of Gentleman Tree Publishing contacted me about submitting a piece about my time living in South Korea or what it was like reintegrating back in the United States. After I sent in the manuscript, they wrote back and asked if I had anything else. I sent the dream story, and they told me if I had more stories they would publish them together. Did I have any more? I didn't, but I lied and said I did. I spent the next twenty-four hours pumping out two more short stories, and before I knew it, I had a published book.
