Zachariah Bennet Douglas

Biography

Hello.
My pen name is Zachariah Bennet Douglas
My given name is James David Harper.
ZBD is a character I write as.
It started out with me writing stories.
Then I branched off into introspection.
I was always anti-establishment
but the USA's political climate has changed me.
My books exist as they do, tho.
Reflections of who I am/was at points in my life.
Unapologetic.
Time capsules for the future me.

A book of short stories and essays from my early 20s. Some of my most imaginative and abstruse writing. Dreams that don't entirely make sense, monsters, musicians, birds, the post-teen party culture, abstract philosophy...many things are covered. This book is exactly what it is for the sake of being exactly what it is.

'I titled this project "Irrational Reactions to Social Irrationality" because I need an outlet for the way I react to people being stupid. When something sad happens, people have a sad reaction...they cry or get depressed. When happy things happen, people smile. I fear that I can't have rational reactions to irrational experiences...'

This is a disgruntled critique of the music industry from the perspective of an unsigned SkaPunk musician. It's meant to be harsh but funny. It's serious and absurd. It chronicles a lot of the thoughts I had about what I experienced. This is me screaming at the glass ceiling...going from rage to calm and back again.
