Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche

Biography

H.E. Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche was born a prince of the Sikkimese Royal Court. However, even before his birth the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa recognized him as the 12th Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche. Rinpoche received many personal empowerments, textual transmissions, as well as oral instructions directly from his root lama, the Sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa.

Rinpoche is the supreme lineage holder of the Zurmang Ear Whispered Lineage (zur mang snyan rgyud) and is head of monasteries in both Zurmang, Kham (Qinghai province) and Sikkim. He has taught the Zurmang Kagyu tradition extensively all over the world, and Zurmang centers can now be found in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
