William Sailor Freedman was a boxer of significance from 1916 until 1928. He was also an enforcer/thug for gangsters, particularly the Philadelphia rum runner Max Hoff. Hoff ran a gambling operation as well while also managing Sailor's boxing career. Freedman was a short fighter, standing 5'8" with a 69" reach.
