About Peter Ninnes

I am an author and consultant who has lived in Japan for five years. In that time, and during a couple of earlier holiday visits, I have been fortunate to get to all 47 prefectures, climb 80 or so mountains, bathe in 215 different onsens, remember a few more kanji than I have forgotten, lose count of the number of temples and shrines I have seen, and eat all sorts of stuff that I didn’t know was edible. Before coming to Japan, I lived in East Timor, Australia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and the US.

With an impending trip to Japan I found this guide book very valuable. It is not only informative but the author's style is friendly and made me feel as if I had a personal guide to take me on the walks. The book has been well researched and I look forward to doing many of these excursions in the near future.
