Just finished this. However, it could have done with the employment of an editor. I see it has been 2 years since it was released; where is volume 2? I particularly would like to see how R2-D2 ended up on the ship with Leia at the beginning of "A New Hope".

This was a great story of R2D2 from birth--Been waiting for a story through the astromech eyes of R2--This author gives us clear images and understanding of battles and characters---Loved the way he took serious Jar-Jar and didn t cave to the darkside as Lucas did in making Jar-Jar a joke--We got real true Characters and a fun adventure--A book that you will race through with excitement each turn of the page and the errors within tells you that this is a true author--(not corporatized-cleaned and edited down)--Can t wait for more---Keep up the awesome work--And May the Force be with You our Jedi Master--

This book is one fast ride trough the galaxy of Star Wars
in wich you'll witness the *birth of the phenomenom r2-d2*
and the many adventures he goes through, besides there is the story about Maul how he becomes Sith
What i really liked in this book is the way the author describes the lightsaber duels and space combat,i could picture the many epic duels as if i was there.
Than there are some new introduced Star wars characters that you'll (it depends if you're a darkside or a lightside fan) love or hate.
The author even managed to create a very cool Jar-Jar

can't wait for the 2nd droid of a kind book.

A great read, exciting and easy to follow. This is the first book I have read in years and I am enjoying it immensely. Written in such a way you can hear the characters voices and see their faces while you race through the story.

This book is one hell of a ride from start to finish. The creation of Artoo. A different view of Episode I. Darth Maul's... A Jar-Jar you will love. And introductions to new characters that'll make you ask, "who's that? will i read about him again? on the next book perhaps?" All in all this book is a worthwhile read. Fast-paced. Good plot. Will keep you guessing and anticipate what will happen next. And just when you think you know what will happen... Forget about the grammatical errors. It's the guys first published book. And English is not his native language. Give him a break.

The introduction CLEARLY states that English is not this person's first language. I can only imagine trying to write a novel in a different language and the syntax errors I would run into. That being said, you can still get what this book is about.

This is a wonderfully thought out story that takes us "behind the scenes" of pre-Phantom Menace Naboo. The descriptions put me right there with Padme and her family. The origin of Artoo is equally delightful and the author captures the feisty essence of our beloved droid.

Twists and turns abound in this novel that will keep you wondering what's beyond the next page. A new Darth Maul, new characters, and what's that? Dare I say an IMPROVED Jar-Jar Binks? Very nice!

I love Star Wars. But I concur with the first review. I never expect a great deal of perfect editing from a self-pubbed author, being one myself, but the narrative seemed to be rather clunky and cumbersome. Word choise is rather repetitive.
I think it would be a good story if more time was spent editing it. Maybe ignoring it for a few months and then taking a fresh look at it.

Review by: Bill Anderson on May 21, 2012 :
Really needs to be better edited. Reads like it was written in another language and then translated by someone not really fluent in English. A lot of problems with using past and present tense, often in the same sentence. This made it difficult to read as the editing got in the way of the story. The story itself isn't bad. If properly edited I would have given it a 4.
