Straight off the bat I'm going to deduct a half a star for the totally tasteless, crude joke at the start of chapter eight. Even though, I have to admit, I laughed at it despite myself. Also I'm going to deduct a further half star because it was a little slow and self indulgent at the beginning, though it soon picked up pace. Luckily I stuck with it and I'm so glad I did. This is a great read, with a clever story line and some killer twists and turns which I didn't see coming. It is well written, has some funny, off beat gags and really got me thinking about the problems society faces today because of substance abuse and mental illness. The writing was compulsive and I just had to find out how come the book was written in first person yet after Jake's death? You could say I found it totally addictive
Well worth the $2.99 asked.
