When the Moon had Feet

Rated 5.00/5 based on 1 reviews
This is a short story about a time when everything was possible but nothing was allowed; when scarcity, like some insane Midas, transformed all commodities into gold. Wonderland, bottom-side up and wrong-side out.

About Gabriela Popa

I live at the elusive interface between two languages and I believe my call, as writer, is to explore that fertile terrain. Isaac Bashevis Singer once said that "a writer should never abandon his mother tongue and its treasure of idioms." He was right, of course: but the point is that a writer could never abandon his mother tongue, even if he wanted. Your mother tongue stays with you the way your dreams stay with you -you don't really have a choice, do you?

What a perfect gem of a short story! The plot is thoroughly original, the narrative unfolding in a painterly fashion where the reader is able to see, taste, feel everything that is going on during the family gathering. I have read a lot of world literature over the pst forty years and can tell you that this remarkable piece of fiction can hold its own with the best that's out there. A perfect five stars, in my humble opinion.
