This story takes us back, flashback fashion, into the adventure wherein our two strapping heroes first met. I must say that while it has the appealing characters and urban-fantasy appeal of Ms Lampe's other tales, it's not (IMHO) her strongest work. It's possible that it's simply a matter of taste... this story has more Romance and less of the occult mystery that I so much enjoyed in the previous novels, and I did find myself getting a little impatient with the frequent detours into discussion of the fineness of Timber's ass, when I would have liked to be getting more detail on the mystery around John Stonefeather and his unfortunate situation. That being said, I'm most definitely still keen to read the rest of her books - the first three were so very good, and I'm confident that there's plenty more excellence to be found where that came from. Keep up the good work, Ms Lampe! :-)

LOVE this series, LOVE this book! It really gives good background on how the relationship began--a bit rocky, you might say? But what a match. Together, they are definitely stronger than each added to the other. Two strong people, creating something new--which is always a bit scary! Thank you, Katherine! And thank you for your description of how these stories come to be. I'll do my best to be patient as I await the next installment. Hey Caitlin? We're all waiting for you with love.

Another winner in my humble opinion! Having gone to school in Boulder it was such a nice visit to that fun and eclectic town again - Ms Lampe paints a vivid portrait thru words of the vibe that is Pearl Street. And most intriguing and fascinating it was to visualize the spark-filled way Caitlin's and Timber's worlds collided and knitted together. I also thoroughly enjoyed the melding together of different magickal facets while maintaining a noted respect for each branch, it gave the story lots of of depth and color.
Watching as the tension built from the moment Timber spooked Caitlin on her doorstep 'til they finally surrendered to it was exhilarating if not agonizing at the same time :). Nothing more powerful than the magick created by sexual passion!
This really gives great background and foundation to the characters I've already know and love and am eager to continue learning about them. Thank you again for another great one, Katherine!!!

What do you do when you know your world is going to change irrevocably, and you have no idea what it may change into? Hmmm, sounds like any meaningful relationship I have ever had. What if the choice not to change means that your dreams may shatter and people might die? These are the questions faced by the two main characters in The Parting glass. If that isn't enough for readers of the Caitlin Ross series, this book is the revelation of how Caitlin and Timber met.
I'm a guy. I'm not supposed to go in for all that gooey relationship stuff. "Oooo, What a romantic couple. I wonder how they met?" That kind of stuff.
Truth is, I'm nearly in love with both of Author Katherine Lampe's main characters, Caitlin Ross and Timber McDuff, so I was just as excited to hear the back story of their meeting and beginning of the most intriguing magical team EVER, as any smitten school girl.
What could be better than watching Caitlin's first reaction to seeing her Scots he-man? I'll tell you. Watching two very clever and powerful individuals navigate their way through the cold trail of a wounded man, combating amorphous and threatening spirits and ultimately performing one of the best healing rituals I have ever read.
Fear, romance, danger, magic, sex (oh yeah, but you know, tasteful sex), heartbreak, and the thoughtful methods we have come to expect from Caitlin and Timber.
This is a real keeper! Be sure you read the author's note and the deeply moving The Morning After Blues at the end of the book. It's well worth it!
