Ali isn’t like her sister, Julia. She keeps to herself on the Lunar Colony where they live. But when Julia offers her a chance to buy apples, a rarity on the moon, she goes along, enticed by the idea of seeing her cute classmate Kofi. When some of the kids decide to mess around with an airlock’s controls, it’s up to Ali to figure out a solution. Will she be able to save the kids in time?

Excellent story. I read this out loud to my three daughters because I find that there are not enough female lead characters in youth fiction. They all loved it. We all want to know more about the characters and the colony.

I'm going to share this with one of the 5th grade teachers at my daughter's school. I was just talking to her the other day about a Sci-fi writing assignment that she gave to her students. What she got back was a lot of "humans fly to distant planet and start fighting with native species." She realized that this is what they think Sci-fi is. This story is a perfect example for them that there is SO much more to sci-fi than planetary colonization and inter-species warfare. It will help them expand their
