Vivimor has seen its share of troubles--it sits on the edge of the California Wastes, it's ruled by an oppressive military government, and it's plagued by criminals, disease, and revolutionaries. But now something very old has come to the city--something that is making people disappear and leaving shredded bodies in dark corners. And it falls to seven young men and women to stop it.

Review by: Thomas Billings on Feb. 01, 2013 :
This is a roiling monster of a book. It engulfs you from the start and never lets you go in this untamed, unbridled juggernaut of a tale. Wow! This post apoplectic Los Angeles novel has almost a hundred thousand words all shaped by Daniel Thomas Quick into flaming arrows aimed right at the reader’s brain. It’s fun! It’s intense! It’s righteous mayhem! It seems like Mr. Quick hauls a huge satchel of gems and dumps them all onto a navigation table on a rolling sailing ship at sea. It’s up to the reader to wrap one’s arms around the treasure as it races over the edges! Wrap your own arms around this story and see if you can contain your enthusiasm. This has the drumbeat of a Del Toro “Anthem” type tale. The DNA of a “Cloud Atlas”. Bravo!!
