Imaginative and fun
I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into when I started this book, but the sample was very well written and I thought I'd give it a try.
Wow, what a roller coaster ride. The author has created a world that is both strange and familiar, and reveals just enough to make us feel like we're there without overwhelming with too much description.
The story begins normal enough, but soon we're drawn into a world of mystery and fantasy with enough plot twists to make your head spin. Every time you think you have it figured out, something happens to send it off in a different direction. The writing is excellent, presented in a clear and concise style, but where the author really shines is using her imagination to create this detailed world and the beings that live in it.
My only complaint is that the next book isn't out yet, so I'm looking forward to the next step in the journey Ms. Mills is taking us on. I have a feeling we're in for a lot more surprises, and we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the main character, Beth.
Well done. Can't wait for the next one.
