Ain't Nobody's Bizness

Told in reluctant heroine Madeleine "Max" Maxwell’s rough-edged voice, Ain’t Nobody’s Bizness mixes warped observation and uncompromising self-realization. Max struggles with a very unexpected mid-life pregnancy, the violent death of her alcoholic brother, and the long-term results of questionable life choices. Readers will find Max a surprising, endearingly messed up but painfully honest narrator More

About Laura Garner

"... a vibrant new voice in contemporary fiction, intelligent and funny." -- Michael Palmer, New York Times bestselling author

"... writes confidently, with plenty of attitude and humor -- but her distinctive voice is enriched by a loving hand that gives her story unexpected depth. She makes you care deeply about her characters and the conflicting currents of their flawed lives." -- Katy Munger, author of the Casey Jones series

"... a character study of considerable style and merit. A fine little book teeming with its own small but important truths." -- Ed Gorman, author of the Sam McCain series

A writer since she was able to hold a crayon, Laura Garner finally got around to publishing her first novel, "Ain't Nobody's Bizness," in 2002. She followed up quickly with a sequel, "I Ain't Superstitious" (2004), then got distracted by shiny things for a while. She's thrilled to be back in print with "Kiss Me, Caitlyn," which combines two of her favorite things: romance and theater.

Laura earned undergraduate degrees in theater and music back at the dawn of time, then received her MA in professional writing in 2005. She is way too active in theater on Cape Cod, but hopes to focus more on writing now that she's completely worn herself out doing three shows in one year. She is currently working on another romantic comedy/mystery.

Laura lives at Wits End with her husband, actor Glenn Wall, and two very stupid tortoiseshell cats.
