Discount a 50-something woman as just a “pathetic old hag,” and see where that gets you. The arrogant young boyfriend of a former employee of Lily Raffenport, a mellow but irreverent Colorado garden designer, finds out when he dismisses everything about Lily as he trowels on the story of his girlfriend’s drunken suicide. About Linda Seals

Linda Seals is a writer and garden designer living in northern Colorado. She’s been writing most of her life but didn’t turn her attention to fiction until, early one winter morning, a chatty and amusing character danced out of a dream with stories to tell. Inevitably, Linda was compelled to give voice to fellow gardener and reluctant sleuth Lily Raffenport. She found they both feel much of life is humorous.

A baby boomer from Dallas “raised up” in Oklahoma, Linda is a born storyteller, eager collector of the details of life, and grounded in a love of the land, giving her stories a true sense of place, and bringing her experiences in the Southwest evocatively to the page.

Linda has also worked in the publishing and newspaper industries as an art director; owned a graphic design firm; and been a warehouse worker packaging seeds until she found her calling in the plants and dirt of gardening that led to the words and world of writing.

Linda continues her work as a professional gardener as she happily writes the next Lily Raffenport mystery, Paid in Spades.

Wow! I loved this story, by Linda Seals. Gardener-turned-amateur-sleuth, Lily Raffenport,is unsatisfied with police reports that deem the death of her former employee and friend a suicide. Together with a group of warm-hearted quirky friends, Lily digs into questions surrounding the death and finds herself in a dicey situation. The book uses humor well, has a page-turning plot and fun gardening references. I would totally read another "Lily Raffenport" book. Nice work Linda, keep up the writing!

I enjoyed "Raked Over" - it's better than a number of books I've bought at retail price from well-known, established authors. Looking forward to Lily's next outing.
