The story of a small girl who's never left home her entire life. She dreams of someday stepping through that glass pane but with a mother like hers, what is there left to say? She has only looked, never touched nor smelled what the world is like, nothing beyond her backyard. Until a boy with a grin and loud mouth somehow comes to her rescue. More
June has grown up here in Pennsylvania, though perhaps not aged at all. Frail and delicate, she's never seen the world beyond her kitchen doors. Her mother is a protective sort, a woman hiding behind a mask of kindness and behind it could be a bit twisted. Her father has been absent for most of her life, a general who took his job seriously and a hard worker from what anyone could tell. June has never had the luxury or the pleasure of a friend, a smile, a laugh. She sifts through her routine time and time again. A life as depressing as hers seemed a bit much for a girl so young and yet she coped, she agreed she gave her 'yes' and nothing more. The girl wouldn't expect to have been saved by a boy as loud as thunder and a grin as bright as the sun.
