Review by: Jennifer Howell on March 21, 2019 :
My fiancé was kind enough to buy me this book as an early birthday gift. I read the first one quickly, and I couldn’t wait to start the 2nd one.
I really like this book too. I still love the same characters, and the action is great. It’s not your typical end of the world apocalypse, and I was glad for it.
I don’t want to give away too much, but a major plus to me was, what I call, “The Mindless”. She doesn’t really tag them as such, but I don’t know really how else to describe them. They are not dead either. It is really great how she wrote them in.
What I really love about these books are the characters. You really feel like your in their head, feeling what they are feeling, and thinking what they are thinking. Completely amazing for that; definitely my kind of stories I like to read and write.
We are still clueless about other things, however, which bothers me a little since it is the 2nd book. I would have liked a few questions answered, but it also lends to the mystery of what is going on. I hope we learn more as the books proceed.
So, my rating is A- / 4 stars. Well worth the read. An excellent book. I read it within two days. I couldn’t stop reading it!
Overall, I really liked this story, and I plan on getting all the books, because that is how much I enjoyed this story. I can’t wait to read the next ones. Very well done.
