About Sally Berneathy

I grew up in a small rural town in southeastern Oklahoma where our favorite entertainment on summer evenings was to sit outside under the stars and tell stories. When I went to bed at night, instead of a lullaby, I got a story. That could be due to the fact that everybody in my family has a singing voice like a bullfrog with laryngitis, but they sure could tell stories—ghost stories, funny stories, happy stories, scary stories.

For as long as I can remember I've been a storyteller. Thank goodness for computers so I can write down my stories. It's hard to make listeners sit still for the length of a book! Like my family's tales, my stories are funny, scary, dramatic, romantic, paranormal, magic.

I have two ongoing cozy mystery series: Death by Chocolate and Charley’s Ghost. The first book in each series is a USA Today Bestseller.

Death by Chocolate is the first of seven books in that series. The others are Murder, Lies and Chocolate; The Great Chocolate Scam; Chocolate Mousse Attack; Fatal Chocolate Obsession; Deadly Chocolate Addiction; and Wives, Guns and Chocolate. There will be more!

Charley’s Ghost includes: The Ex Who Wouldn't Die, The Ex Who Glowed in the Dark, The Ex Who Conned a Psychic, and The Ex Who Saw a Ghost. There will be more!

Before my third divorce, I sold fifteen romance novels ranging from comedy to dark suspense under the names Sally Carleen, Sally Steward and Sara Garrett. For those novels, I won several awards including National Readers' Choice, Romantic Times Best Silhouette Romance and two Rita finalist slots. Most of the Silhouettes are available as e-books. Now my focus is on murder.

Besides writing, my interests are reading, eating chocolate and riding my Harley.

Contact information is available on my website. I love to talk to readers! Okay, I just plain love to talk!

Absolutely loved this book!!!! And the fact that is has a "feel good" ending, I'm defensively going to finish this series before this month's end. Thank you so much to the author for this sweet taste of a perfectly blended combo of almost murder, chocolate, friendship (don't forget about Henry the cat) and promise for yet a delicious surprise ready to be uncovered. :D

Sally Berneathy brings us a novel filled with emotion, friendship, humor, danger, and secrets. Lindsay Powell loves chocolate almost to death. She and co-worker, Paula, run a shop named Death by Chocolate for those of us who can’t do without. Lindsay is trying to say the word “No” to her almost ex-husband, while she sticks by secretive, terrified Paula and become a cat owner all at the same time.
The cat, she insists, is visiting only; Paula is in danger; and her almost ex just won’t go away. Fred is the neighbor of many talents who ends up helping Lindsay and Paula. The cat, King Henry, (yes, looks like he moved in) knows danger when he smells and sees it. All this and Paula’s sweet little boy (learning to talk, which is funny), Zach, who loves everyone plus a cat; along with an understanding, although by the book, detective, Adam Trent give us all we need for an excellent cozy that’s very hard to put down.

Perfect mystery for pre-sleep reading (a bit hard to stop though) with funny catchy remarks that both entertain and create suspense.
On to the next book in the series.
Tks Sally

One of the best books I've read in a long time! I love the heroine's spunk and curiosity and I really like all the detail and interwoven scenes. I had to read all the way to the end in one sitting - just couldn't put it down! Can't wait to pick up more from this author!

I thought this book was great. Written in a very readable narrative style, although I would make a tiny suggestion that it be formatted right-justified as it makes for easier reading on smaller devices such as iPhones.

However, once my eyes adjusted to the formatting, the storyline was excellent, compelling and interesting. The characters are lovable - or hatable, as appropriate - and Lindsay is a fantastically strong and well-drawn character.
