About Rick Russell

I'm a book seller who has been at it all his adult life. Along the way I have been a book, magazine, ezine and newspaper editor and writer. I have purposely avoided the publishing establishment, because I have known many of them, and their incompetence and ignorance of literature as an art form is frightening. I write because it is a part of understanding what I have made my profession and i have done it for forty years now.

Review by: Robert Mitchell, Jr on Oct. 27, 2012 :
I had been intending to read something by Machen and Blackwood, and had long thought it would be fun to read some of Crowley's fiction, so I was very excited to find this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mr. Russell's introductions to each tale are worthy and sound, as is his prologue, and I may well read more of his compilations. My only criticism is that he did not include the original publication date for each story, but that omission doesn't diminish enjoyment. Of the tales included I must say that Crowley's was the most unsettling. Recommended!
