Presentation Lesson Hacks is a fantastic book for anybody who teaches presentation skills. I was expecting the usual set of fixed expressions and basic techniques, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that this book goes much deeper than any of that. I especially liked the strong focus on the psychology of presenting – overcoming nerves, handling criticism, self-assessment, getting into “presenter mode”, and so on. These hacks will take your classes beyond English language teaching and into the realm of business coaching.

Another nice feature is that each hack is a simple, self-contained idea for a few minutes of focused learning and practice. There’s no need for learners to spend hours planning and delivering long presentations (and sitting through everyone else’s efforts). With these hacks, your course can be filled with lots of short, snappy, fun activities.

Presentation Lesson Hacks by Phil Wade is a necessity for anyone teaching advanced language skills and/or presentation skills. The idea of putting the book into a series of hacks is brilliant. It is concise, organized and acts as a daily routine one can easily follow in the classroom while engaging students and giving them the ability to make better quality presentations for the rest of their lives. Presentation skills are life skills that have all but disappeared from the classroom, yet Phil brings a coherent methodology and touches all the bases. Every hack is well thought out and has well planned activities to not only teach these skills, but gives contextualized meaning for the reasons each hack is important to the students. Well written indeed. rob howard - online language center

In this book, Wade beats around no bush, directly suggesting quick and easy activities for teachers to try with students who have presentation skills to improve. While adaptable to nearly any context and level, these 'hacks' cover the gamut of problematic areas: nerves, movement, sentence stress, feedback, just to name a few. A personal favourite: Eye contact #1.
