Another wonderful book from this talented English writer.
Hazard is the 5th book in Stella Riley’s outstanding Rockliffe series and another winner.
The title ‘Hazard’ takes its name from a dice game which, despite its complicated rules, was very popular in the 17th and 18th centuries and often played for money when fortunes were won or lost on the rolling of dice.
The male leads will be well known to those who have read the previous books in this series; Lord Nicholas Wynstanton, who has been pursuing Aristide’s sister, Madeleine, for some considerable time but with scant reward. And primarily, Aristide Delacroix whose past catches up with him on two fronts.
Put these two stories together and, along the way, bring in old friends from previous books in the series and you have another outstanding winner.
Stella Riley has an instinctive understanding of Georgian society, the etiquette of the day, style and fashions. Add to this her amazing ability to write conversations between her characters where no word is wasted and you have a true gem.
The cover copy of Hazard says …’Four players in a game of Hazard … all playing for very high stakes.’
Absolutely true and another wonderful book from this talented English writer.
