About Ephraim Sidon

Ephraim Sidon was one of the founders of the humour section in Israel’s anti-establishment weekly HaOlam HaZeh, wrote many other satirical columns in the Israeli press and continued as a satirist for Israeli television. He was head writer, creator and editor of various satirical programs, sitcoms and other TV humour. He has written hundreds of humorous items and skits, programs for adults and programs for children broadcasted on various networks. Much of his work has centred around writing children’s books and plays. With some 40 published children’s books to date – and 20 plays for kids – he is considered one of Israel’s most popular and best-selling children’s writers.

Ephraim won the Bialik Prize for Literature, 2004 and the Prime Minister’s Prize, 2011, and as a playwright, he won the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from ASSITEJ (the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People).

His books for children have been translated into Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Thai.
