Charlotte Lucas Collins has been invited by her friend Elizabeth Bennet Darcy to a week-long house party at Pemberley. Her husband Mr Darcy has an ulterior motive for inviting her (he admires her sensual drawings) and Charlotte is eager to accept the invitation (her secret lover Sir Richard Walden will also be there).

The redoubtable Lady Catherine de Bourgh has her own agenda during the week, but everyone's plans are upset after a serious accident involving another guest. A second guest has Charlotte in his sights and attempts to make an advance, which she fends off; when she accompanies Miss Anne de Bourgh on an excursion, there may be life-changing repercussions for the young heiress.

This is the second story in a series called Pemberley House Party, itself a sequel to the earlier five-part series entitled Charlotte and Sir Richard.

The door opened, and Mr Darcy smiled. “Come in, Mrs Collins. We were just admiring your work.”
She noticed her drawings were spread out across the table: they comprised naked adult humanity arrayed in all kinds of provocative poses, designed to stimulate even those with the dullest sexual spirit. “Will you be preparing more soon?” asked Sir Richard. “I do hope so. In fact, Mrs Collins, Mr Darcy demands that you remain active in this project.”
“You men are insatiable!” she grinned. “I have an idea for a triptych,” she answered. “It will bear the likeness of someone known to you - but that person must never see the work.”
