About Mike Eschbach

I would describe myself as unassuming. I'm the 4th of 5 kids, a Penn State grad, a U.S. Navy vet and an entrepreneur. I've been married since 2002.

I've been writing fiction informally since I was ten years old. I've outlined and written down ideas for stories in several different genres. It is only as I've gotten older that I've tried to take a stab at actually writing in effort to get published.

I've written in a number of different fictional styles including retrospectives, faith based stories and humor. Right now my efforts are focused on world building in a military fantasy setting under the title 'Tales of the MERC.' Parts One and Two are currently priced at 99. Part Three is priced at $3.99.

Reviews of Tales of the MERC Part Two: A Deadly Introduction by Mike Eschbach

I can't recall if the first installment had the appendix with all the definitions and details of the culture, the time, the different races. I was pleased when I found it here. I think maybe it would be better in the beginning of the books - as a refresher for those of use following the story and an introduction for those new to it. This second installment was well done. We get a glimpse into how Stout and Malice met and the author starts filling in details about the politics at play between the MERC and the Merchant Houses. The stage is possibly set now for Hari and Click and the seriousness of the life they are heading into. Looking forward to book 3.

Amazing book and a must read. It's engaging and it has a great storyline with equally good characters. I won't mention the plot to prevent spoils but you should give it a read.

The installments are not coming fast enough.

In the second installment of the series, we find out more about Malice and Stout. Under the guise of Malice getting to know her son's intended, she tells of her own unorthodox courtship with Stout. It is a perfect venue for learning much of the background history of the land and (hopefully!) foreshadows what Hari will be facing in the future.
