Cara Michaels is a dreamer of legendary proportions (just ask her about the alien pirate spaceship invasion). Her imagination is her playground and nothing is quite so much fun for her as building new characters and new worlds with at least an edge of the fantastic. She's writing whenever the opportunity presents itself and can typically be found tinkering with half a dozen projects. Occasionally all at once.
She calls Florida 'home' when she's not busy swearing about giant bugs and humidity. She has one super-cool fiancé who doesn't (usually) mind the hours spent writing, editing, writing some more, and editing a lot more, one son with aspirations of becoming either a great wizard or an artist, and three cats who enjoy sleeping on her works in progress.

Gaea’s Chosen: The Mayday Directive is a masterpiece. I’m typically more reserved when I critique the works of others, but Cara has written a story that is undeniably one of the best I’ve read. Her characters are captivating, and the setting and action are so well-written that this could easily be a television show or movie. The novel reminded me a bit of Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, but that is meant as a pure compliment. I will certainly be checking out her new story, Event Horizon, if it is anything at all like this one. I'd recommend this to anyone that loves a good sci-fi/action/adventure story!

I love the world that Cara has created here. The characters from both books so far are terrific. I can't wait to have the next one in my reader.
With the feel of Stephan Lawhead's Empyrion series, she takes it the next step further and details even the personality of the ship.
I say both books are worth the read and they could be read in one sitting, making you wonder when her next one will be in the can.

It's been a while since I've found an entertaining and engaging SF story. "Gaea's Chosen" is the perfect mix of humour, action, and imagination. It left me wanting more!

Weighing in at 7 Chapters, “Gaea’s Chosen: The Mayday Directive” feels like it’s just the hook from the beginning of a full length novel, but at $0.99 I won’t have any qualms about buying the installments as they come out—though perhaps when the story is finished a full collection will be available for a single download.
I don’t want to spoil anything about this fascinating adventure, but I feel it is necessary to say that a lot of “Mayday Directive” seems to be set-up; as the full scope and circumstances of the tale only just seem to be starting to be revealed at the end of this installment. Also the adult content is mostly just discussed in this segment, whereas I imagine as the story continues we will be treated to more ‘on-screen’ mature play.
And that is my first book-review. Whether I did it right or not, what you should take away is that it is a good story and completely worth picking up if you have a dollar to spend on a quick and engaging read.

Do you like sci-fi? Here's a well written short story that threatens at sequels. If you're into erotic romance in a science fiction setting, this is not the story you're looking for. But if you like science fiction with romantic elements, this is the real deal. How would you deal with being shot out into space, waking up on an unknown planet, and interacting with (dangerous) indigenous life? Commander Gemma Bryant gets the opportunity to strut her stuff on a weird planet with a long, long day and she does it despite the losses she's sustained. Vivid imagery and humorous storytelling suck the reader into this world until the very last page when you're begging for more. Take a chance on the debut of this author. Worth all 99 pennies!

I am not usually a big reader of Sci-Fi, but once in awhile, you need to go out of your comfort zone to get a new perspective on things, like space/time, worm holes, and humanoid creatures.
Gaea's Chosen, while not a long read, is packed full of story! Imagine boarding a spaceship, knowing full well it would be at least 10,000 years before you got to your destination. Who of us could do that?
I really have to watch what I say with this book, so I don’t spoil it, but you can only imagine what you (or your body) might experience on a long flight such as this. I did some calculating in my head, and when you woke up, anyone of your family would of course be long gone, and if you had a long distance phone, you could talk to your cousin, 400 times removed! The concept boggles the mind.
This book made me think, about a lot of stuff I hadn’t given much thought to. In this action packed novella, you have love, hate, sorrow, action, and adventure. All of the subjects that bring me back to an author’s works.
So yes, Gaea's Chosen is definitely worth your time to read, and Cara Michaels is definitely worth your time to follow. Can’t wait for the next book!

An absolute must read for science fiction/fantasy lovers! Cara Michaels delivers it all in "The Mayday Directive," Book I of the series, "Gaea's Chosen." She combines (uniquely) believable futuristic science, a well-developed main character, romance, suspense, and adventure, all wrapped up in wry humor that captures your attention in the first paragraph and immediately becomes a "page-turner!" My only "complaint" is I reached the end much too soon! I can't wait to see where she'll take me in Book II. Wherever it is, I'll be there! (*footnote* Though I did some initial proof-reading on this book, I in no way participated in its writing)
