Interview with Nia Eze

What are you working on next?
I am currently working a few stories that have been playing around in my head. One should be completed by the end of September.
Who are your favorite authors?
There's a long list of those. I absolutely love Agatha Christie mysteries! I have also enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
You have probably guessed it, I like historical novels. I recently discovered an up and coming Asian writer i like, Jeanine Li. I am still discovering new favorite authors everyday.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life! And the living of it! I get just this one shot and I hope to make the very best of it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Dreaming up new stories. I have a whole tribe of imaginary friends! Don't know how many times my husband has caught me out having 'conversations' with my imaginary friends. Someone assured me when I was much younger that I would out grow them. Happily, I haven't.
Reading, taking care of my family, holding down a job (I like that job too), just living and being.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
At first, through random searches. Nowadays, I have a few sites that I have kind of bookmarked.
Wattpad, Obooko.com, ebook.bike and yours truly, smashwords. I still do the random search thing from time to time though.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Vaguely. :-)
I was probably about twelve years old and it was about a group of pre-teens who were growing up together and trying to find their identity. :-P
What is your writing process?
It all depends. I have had stories that just practically flowed out of me and then I've had those where I had to break out a chart to better understand the relationships I wanted to write about. Mostly though I write from the heart and allow inspiration to come as it may.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Not really since I began reading as young as five years old. I do remember that the first book I owned was a book of bedtime stories for each season. I believe it was wanting to read the stories behind the colorful pictures that fired up my desire to learn how to read. By age nine, I was reading encyclopedias for fun. Yes, nerd alert!
How do you approach cover design?
I mostly do them myself. I usually have an idea what I want to do as the book nears its completion and I research pictures or drawing that would help convey what I think the book is about. Where I don't find any that fits my exact specification, I bang up one myself. I recently uncovered various apps that are very useful in this regard.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Holy Bible, it has been a road map for most of my life, shining light on simple truths to live by.

Transgender J, because it's my first published book.

The sign of the four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, It is one of my favorite Sherlock Holmes stories.

Any good old Miss Marple or Monsieur Poirot tale, i simply adore them. The stories bring warmth to any cold, dreary day for me.

A series of diaries hand made for me by my children. They are on my desk at work as I'm not a good 'diary keeper'. it cheers me up to look at them and remember that my children think the world of me.
What do you read for pleasure?
Anything! Newspapers, magazines, novels, encyclopedias, bogs, Facebook posts by friends and families...anything!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My phone or my tabs.
Describe your desk
Pseudo-cluttered. It makes sense to me though.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I realized that I would answer to God for a waste of talent. I feel called to tell stories. For me, listening to stories have been pivotal in molding my perspective of life. i feel it is important to get the voice you need to hear out there.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Telling a story as it is.
