I began my career screenwriting over 20 years ago, but I discovered about a dozen years ago that I prefer the freedom that comes with writing novels.

My latest release - How to Land an Earl in Ten Days or Less - focuses on the Caribbean salt trade in the early 19th Century. Both Bermuda (where my heroine is from) and The Bahamas were engaged in a political struggle for control over the salt pans of what is *now* the Turks and Caicos. After her father was lost in a hurricane, my heroine travels to London in the hopes of lobbying parliament on behalf of the Bermudian claim.

Having traveled to Bermuda, I feel in love with the island and it was so nice to be able to bring the research I found on that trip into the creation of this book.

I was a traditionally published author for 9 books, but found the creative freedom of Indie world to be very attractive. I much more prefer being the master of my own destiny vs. leaving my fate up to others.

My favorite part of writing, is the very beginning of the story, knowing that anything can happen in the subsequent pages. This might be why I have a number of projects started.

My fans are the best! I have received the nicest emails from people who have read my books and want to talk about my characters that they have come to love or love to hate. Those emails always make me smile and it's so fulfilling to see that I've brought happiness into other's lives.

I am working on the follow up to How to Land an Earl in Ten Days or Less, with another Bermudian salt heiress who has come to London. Caitrin is the sister of my previous heroine Cara and their personalities are as different as night and day (this may or may not reflect the difference in personality that my sister and I share.)

I am a big fan of Deb Marlowe, Jerrica Knight-Catania, Jane Charles, Julie Johnstone and Samantha Grace. Anything they write is a real winner!

I have two wonderful cats - Lord Catsby and Lord Catsworth. They keep me company all the time, when I'm writing and when I'm not. I'm also a movie buff (probably a hold over from my screenwriting days) and see a lot of movies in my spare time.

I do! The first story I ever wrote was in 2nd Grade, and it was about a mermaid. I also drew the pictures. The pictures were not good, which is why I'm an author and not an artist.

My father is a water engineer and we moved around a lot when I was a kid, and I grew up all over the place. With that said, I do consider Houston home. Moving around as often as we did, I met so many different people that I think it gave me an interest in why and how people do the things they do. That curiosity always led me to creating characters of my own.
