How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords, gets my story out to the public, and it helps me to inspire those who need support in their battle.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I have been a 3x cancer survivor since the age of 14, diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma , stage 3, then at age 18 I was diagnosed with Schwanoma (cancer of the lining of the nerve), and at age 26 I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. The book tells the story of resilliance, hope and unbelievable strength, and how I was thrown into adult making decisions, all the while battling.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
writing lets me escape into another world, and to put my thoughts on paper I cannot say. It helps me to put my life in perspective without no interruptions.
What are you working on next?
I am working on my next book titled "RAW", My Breast Cancer Journey
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Mitch Albom, and I love Memoirs .I enjoy reading about how people got their start in life and where they came from. To know they have been through obstacles , but they never let the obstacles get in their way. I am the same
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life! I am alive, and breathing. I continue to live life the best way I know how until I can't no more. My Breast Cancer Journey, has given me the strength to keep on going. If I stay busy, I will heal faster.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I shop, read, watch television, spend time with my husband and son, travel
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
"Never Lose Hope" is my first written and published book, and I am so proud of myself!!!
What is your writing process?
it has to be complete silence, so I can focus and think. I can't have any distractions. I will even go to the library to do my writing.
How do you approach cover design?
I have a Graphic Designer whom I work on the cover and give my ideas too. My husband takes the photos, I choose which photos are great for the cover and the back cover, and the Graphic designer lets me choose the design of the fonts and wording. I have a lot of lead-way on my books.
