Why use Smashwords as a Author?
I believe that Smashwords is a great way for a new or existing author to receive exposure for their work. At the same time, it is a wonderful way to make new friends and meet new associates.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy is received from telling a story through the author's eyes and, allowing that story to be projected to the reader in a whole new light.
What are you working on next?
A business book to share with the world on ways to create, maintain, build and expand a business, started with under $5000, with no credit history or bad credit history. It will show how to build it to become a million-dollar business.
Who are your favorite authors?
Edgar Allen Poe is one of my all-time favorite authors.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The will to survive against all odds.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love being creative. I do photography, oil painting, graphic design, arts & crafts. I go to is gardening since I am able to grow many things that later become great photos.
What is your writing process?
I find a need, and then I fill it. In other words, I see an unusual situation, then take that situation and detail it out so the reader can see it through my eyes as if they were there.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, Flowers in the Attic. It had an impact on me because I lived some of it and realized at that point, that everyone has a story, it just has not been told yet.
How do you approach cover design?
I have to think about the story and then close my eyes and see the picture of what I would expect to see, based on the story. After that, I create a design based on the story I visualized.
What do you read for pleasure?
Paranormal and true stories.
Describe your desk
My desk is a room upstairs with a large window. I live at the top of a mountain in Europe, and the scenes are spectacular. If I get writer's block, I stop, grab a small coffee and sit back and look out of my window.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in the deep south parts of the United States. It helped to create many of the stories that I write about.
When did you first start writing?
I first began to write on April 1, 2019, and finished my first book on July 28, 2019.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It is about my life and the hardships that come from being adopted, abused, and given away.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have a background in teaching. I can teach 28 different courses and one of those courses happened to be marketing. I have always only had myself to rely on, therefore, who better to develop the story, write the story, publish the story and sell the story, than me.
