Published 2024-04-26.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first story that I can remember reading is the Arthur C Clarke short - The Nine Billion Names of God. The story is a clever blend of religiosity and science fiction which opened my eyes to the unexpected plot twist. I really love stories that have a good set up and payoff.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Flashman in the Great - Game George Macdonald Fraser
The Forever War - Robert Heinlein
The Call of Cthulhu - HP Lovecraft
Exactly - Simon Winchester
Carnage and Culture - Victor Davis Hanson
What do you read for pleasure?
Atlases. I love looking at maps. Even street directories.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I've never owned one.
Describe your desk
Very sterile. Pictures on the walls and little else.
