Interview with Kellista Cox

Published 2019-04-22.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up all over the place. Being in the foster care system in the '90s was way different than it is now. So basically all over Colorado.
Why Fiction?
I choose fiction mostly because of what my mind gravitates towards. I tend to live in a fantasy world.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing at the age of 12. Working out my problems into a diary.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Most of my book is based on experiences that have happened to me. I sweeten it up with fiction and resolutions I very well know may never happen.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
To be honest, I really don't know. I just enjoy typing words to help my emotional state.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has taught me so much about ebook authors. It is not easy to format a book into a ebook at all, I now have great respect for ebook authors.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Working out my issues. I can jot it all down and I don't even realize its turning into a book!
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. I would be nowhere without my fans!
What are you working on next?
I am working on a book that involves a different kind of vampire life. I aim to be way off context with this one.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Anne Rice, P.C. Cast, Christopher Pike, and R.L. Stine
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The possibility of my books becoming movies one day.
