In the publishing industry 'writing for everyone' is considered naive, but ultimately I have chosen to try and write for everyone - fans - from a very personal perspective. I believe this is the same as going somewhere with an open mind- you never know who you might meet!
I think this approach has given me the potential to attract more and more fans, which I would like to do because I simply like to learn from different people. Charles Dickens is part of the reason for this, because of the way he had a very reciprocal relationship with his readers, while maintaining his own very strong, unique, voice.
I too have strong beliefs about my writing, but I want it to be shaped by my life's interaction with people. So fans are incredibly important.
