Máiri : i write down an idea and rewrite and continue to rewrite until the story pours out
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Máiri : obviously as a child fairy tales is a staple, but the book that made my love of books be a lifelong experience was reading Enid Blyton, The Faraway Tree, these stories made my imagination go wild, I would even make up my own lands at the top of the faraway tree in the enchanted forest. Then when I was older reading Wuthering Heights changed my idea on romance forever.
How do you approach cover design?
Miàra : obviously it's important the cover express the story I am writing. Personally the cover is the hardest challenge, but, I will say this being my first book published I wanted the cover to be special, so a friend did the artwork and it is a little secret who's face is blended into the cover (laughing)
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Máiri : The Faraway Tree, Wuthering Heights, Lover At Last (the full series), interview with a Vampire, Stitches in Time ..... Rather than tell you why I like them, why not read them for yourself and create your own opinion.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Máiri : I was born and raised in a very small village in Scotland, I was raised by my grandmother, we were poor so entertainment was my grandmother and her friends coming over drinking tea and sharing stories. I do want to add, I would never change a thing, I was rich in love my grandmother was my inspiration for everything, and she will continue to be forever
When did you first start writing?
Máiri : I think I was about 7 the first time I wrote a fairy tale, it was a longtime ago, but it was basically about a fairy that lived in my grandmothers garden.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Máiri : honestly this was not my first idea, i did have another story i wrote before this, i published it in a website fan base where it received a great positive outpouring and created quite a fan base, but as many of you know, there are some horrible people out there, so after my computer systems were hacked, i decided NO MORE! This is my first book since then, the story and it's background came from hours of writing and rewriting and reading as many legends as I could
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Máiri : for me, my goal is to share the joy of sharing stories with as many people as I can reach. And hopefully, I can be half a good a storyteller as my grandmother was.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Máiri : I am brand new, come back and ask the same question in a couple of months (smiling)

Máiri : every single moment, the smell of paper, the words flowing together. It is a stress relief for me and it's also a great joy.
What do your fans mean to you?
Máiri : again I am new, I hope once i publish, people will enjoy my story, it is being edited as we speak and part two of the book is already being written, I would love to be in a position to have fans write me and tell me how they feel about my characters
What are you working on next?
Máiri : I am currently writing book two in my series, and finishing editing book one to get it ready to be published, I am also writing some ideas of a old orkney legend that I would like to publish
