Interview with PJ Stassen

Published 2023-09-28.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The sense of accomplishment, i.e., seeing one's thoughts, ideas (for what they are are worth) in print as if cast in the concrete of time; hopefully leaving a commendable legacy of some note behind.
What do your fans mean to you?
I would rather call them my 'readers' and they mean a lot to me; they function as a soundboard for my articulated values and sentiments, whther they approve or disapprove.
What are you working on next?
A publication in Dutch for the Netherlands and all for those in Dutch speaking countries and enclaves who possibly may have an interest in what I have to say.
Who are your favorite authors?
Charles Spurgeon, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Basilea Schlinck, E.M. Bounds. Leonard Ravenhill, Herbert Lockyear, G. Cambell Morgan, F.B. Meyer, Phillip Yancey, Lee Strobel, John Lennox, F.P. Moller, Victor Frankl, Corrie ten Boom, Lee Strobel, John G. Lake, R.A. Torrey, John R. Rice, Wiliam Shirer, Zane Grey, O' Henry, Jerome Jerome, Flavius Josephus, Arthur Eddington, Thomas Sowell, Ludwig von Mises, Milton Friedman, Henry Morris, Carl Wieland, David du Plessis, Leslie Charteris.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Writing, Gardening, Music.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Music as an amateur pianist interspersed with garden chores.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Internet platforms such as Scribd, etc.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, but with embarrassmet. It was in 1962 when I was only 14. I zapped it into the zibi.
What is your writing process?
I do not write fiction, so I am far better at researching ideas and concepts pertaining to my field of interest (Christiniaty) than at creative, imaginitive writing demanding exciting adventures and lots of dialogue.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
My first writer I as a young adult encountered and whose books I used to enjoy for years was Leslie Charteris' (his 'Simon Templar as the Saint' series). Lobsang Rampa, who wrote books on Indian mysticism, was another favourite at the time but only until I discovered he was an Englishman living in a flat in the U.K. pretending to be an oriental mystic.
How do you approach cover design?
With my Power Point app, a cup of tea and the Internet in search of a suitable image.
