Fantasy, science-fiction, mystery ... really, just about anything as long as it's good.

In particular, I enjoy Stephen King's novels. He's easily one of the best writers working today, although his novels can be hard to get into at times.

My good old fashioned Kindle Touch, though I also use the Reader on my computer to read PDFs.

When I was 12. I got started writing fanfiction and just recently stopped writing it in order to focus on my original fiction.

Writing fanfiction can be a great way to learn the basics of fiction writing. It's very similar to self-publishing in that you usually publish your stories yourself and you have more direct access to your readers.

Having said that, you have to be careful. What constitutes good fanfiction does not always constitute good original fiction and vice versa. The vast majority of fanfic writers are amateurs with little-to-no experience in publishing, whether indie/self or traditional publishing. If you want to make a career as a fiction writer, I suggest writing some original fiction in addition to your fanfiction, as well as going outside of your preferred fanfiction community to learn the actual business of writing.

The control.

I can write what I want, when I want, and publish where I want. I can choose the cover, the interior, even the metadata for search engines to pick up. I make more money per sale than I would through a traditional publisher.

It's a lot of hard work, but it is very much worth it.

That moment when I enter the flow, I think. Because everything just seems so awesome and amazing and I usually get a lot of work done when I enter it.

Although, knowing that some people--even a tiny minority--have bought my books is pretty close.
