Interview with Ms. Tee

Published 2016-06-24.
What's the story behind your latest book?
This story is about my life growing up in Harlem in the 80's and 90's. It's about how I was fascinated by the fast life of Harlem. Growing up around "Famous" dope" dealers, hustlers and people that dressed nice and drove fancy cars made me curious.
What can your readers look forward to?
They can look forward to a great story. They can look forward to answers to questions they may have had about Harlem. If they saw the classic movie "Paid In Full", they can expect some insight on a part of that story. As they read, they can see some pictures that coincide with the stories. They can read about some true Harlem Street legends.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to have complete control of my work. This is my baby and for 10 years I worked hard as well as had to re-live some painful moments while writing.
What makes your book interesting enough to purchase?
This memoir is one of the realest books out. I give you the good, the bad and the ugly. I give you sex, drugs, money and murder. I give it to you straight with no chaser. Some people have their idea of what the street life was all about. They see the money, the cars, the jewelry and the clothes and think that drug dealers are living good. It's more to it. I'm not condoning what we did at all, but it was a way of life and it was not easy by any means. I was shot, robbed and wasn't sure if me and my unborn child would survive. I risked a lot for "THE LIFE", which is just a facade.
What is your writing process?
My writing process for this book was to just start from the beginning. The beginning was my infatuation with the fast life of Harlem. I began there because I was a young child, but I remember the streets of Harlem and the glitz and glamour of it all.
