Interview with Jay Lucas
Published 2023-07-16.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing back in 2001 after I could not find what I was reading that believable.
What are you working on next?
Currently working on the sequel to The Trade Pact.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a terrible story that I re-read to see how far I have come in length and complexity of stories I write.
What is your writing process?
I have a strange writing process. I wrote in burst of wild inspiration and do nothing but wrote the story as it flows from me head. It is like a purge to get the story out of my brain, so it doesn't dominate my thoughts. Once I have either finished out run out of inspiration, I want nothing to do with the story and will let it sit for months before going back and fixing it. I then re-read it and wonder what I was thinking as I fix as many mistakes as I can find.
How do you approach cover design?
It is the one aspect of publishing that I know I am weak at. I try to find the inspiration in what I am writing and often never find the true likeness. I then struggle to put it together and hope that it will be passible
What do you read for pleasure?
Historical fiction and some erotica.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Computer.
