Interview with Peter D. Fleming
Published 2014-07-18.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small community (actually about nine miles outside of it). I spent a lot time playing games and creating my own worlds... I think that early imagination development stays with me regardless where else life leads me.
When did you first start writing?
I started creating ideas and concepts when I was a teenager... but they say that doesn't count. So my first book came 20 years later.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I am fascinated with history. I have a bond with the Military... so when I came across a small cabin in the middle of no where the story just came to me. I researched the area and created a story based from historical events.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I want to get published the get my stories to the world.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Seeing the story come together.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are the reason I can do what I do.
What are you working on next?
I have a couple projects in the works... who knows...
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I have researched the internet and found many places where I can read many of the older out of print books.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes... It was a spoof on Rambo. But, it was never published and the full manuscript was lost over time. I still have some the original notes though.
What is your writing process?
Once I get in the zone I just want to write and write...
How do you approach cover design?
I think the design should somehow reflect the story being told. If someone where to read the story then stripped away the title and everything from the image... they would say it makes sense.

Movin' On
by Peter D. Fleming
In 1863 General Marmaduke raided into Missouri... Union forces fled to Cape Girardeau hounded all the way. Many civilians were victims to the ravages of war but they learned how to survive. This is not only the story of what happened at the Bray homestead during that spring, it is the true story of what war really is. Sometimes there are things more dangerous than the enemy.
