What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle at the moment. I've got a Samsung tablet at the moment
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Just diving in with this. It's my first foray. Might have to get back to you on this one.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Castlemaine,Victoria,Australia,Earth (although some have questioned the last one.)
When did you first start writing?
To be honest I can't remember when I wasn't writing. As soon as I could hold something that made a mark I suppose.
What are you working on next?
Depending on the customer reaction I will be continuing with Rika.
Who are your favorite authors?
Terry Pratchett, Steven Saylor. Lindsey Davis. I'm into ancient Rome in a big way.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading mostly but I will confess that I do like strategy, role playing games and laying waste to zombies!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Charlottes Web made me cry when I was a lad. Memoirs of Hadrian by Marguerite Yourcenar floored for me.It is an almost perfect book!. Beautifully crafted!
How do you approach cover design?
Actually I approached my lovely wife. She is an artist and I wanted her to be a part of my first published book.
What do you read for pleasure?
Ironically, mostly non fiction. I have catholic tastes. At the moment I'm reading; The Mammoth Book of SF,the things nobody knows, mars,a survival guide and: severed, a history of heads lost and heads found. Of those only the SF is fictional.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to test the waters before getting an agent. If this works out I will probably stick with it though.
