John Mahon

Biography

John Mahon was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He graduated From The University of Scranton and worked for a large corporation in NYC before leaving to drive a truck while studying acting. Worked in Stock, Toured, OFF-OFF Broadway, Off Broadway and Broadway. Also drove a hack, bused tables, worked with drug addicts, did office temp in every other building in Manhattan.
John joined Actors’ Equity in 1963, then SAG and AFTRA. Won Best Director Award in 1974 for a production of Jason Miller’s, That Championship Season that he directed four times with Academy Award winner Broderick Crawford playing the coach.
