  • Crimson Midnight (Crimson Series Book 1) on June 19, 2012

2 friends of mine told me about this book, it was one of those get for free but have to write a review afterwards which i usually hate but im really glad i read this book. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hmmmm im not really sure what to say about this book, i did enjoy reading it and got a few laughs out of it but i wouldnt call it original. very UF. i think i had such a hard time writing this review cause i went away on a holiday right in the middle (not a great idea, lol) im thinking of re-reading this book in the future and hopefully writing a better review. if you ignore the "witty" come backs and loads of swearing (which got a bit boring towards the end) the characters where great fun, the banter between Rose and Roman was very cute. my fave thing about Rose was her past - how it made her who she is today. i liked how she was confident in herself. my fave character had to be thistle, for most of the book we thought she was some weird drugged up spacecadet chick but after a while we saw this other side to her which was pretty badass (i would like to learn more about her secret talent, does every vampire get one when there turned??) and i think she was an excellent friend for Rose, i loved how close those two became. the wolves were interesting, i really liked raven, it was great how he was gay and the author showed how that affected the other wolves. the whole hierarchy thing they had going on was fascinating as well - never heard of a werewolf who went around calming the others, lol. loved Flo, if i had a god mother i would want her. her house sounded a pit cooky what with all the teddy's but it also sounded sweet and homey. i thought some of the names where a bit bizarre, like Thistle, Raven, Harold, Flo.... did their parents really call them that?? lol. the writing style was a bit confusing at times - but i think it gave us (the readers) a bigger picture by swapping POV so often so i didnt mind, just wish it could of been a bit smoother or more defined. then again im not used to reading books with switching POVs so it could just be me.... we didnt get much info on the world - we know theres a council that over see's everything and that most of the supernaturals help keep things running smoothly but that was about it, im hoping the next book will give us more info. the ending was pretty abrupt but i really liked it, didnt see it coming at all. all in all im deff looking forward to the next book.
  • Reign of Blood on July 27, 2012

it took me a few days to actually finish this book but overall i really enjoyed it. i did have a few problems with a few of the characters and their behaviour or reactions to some things, mainly with the main character April, especially when it came to Rye - i get it there got a "mate" thing going on (im not a big fan of the Mate style of realationship so this might just be me) but i thought she just accepted it and the other vampires way to quickly. also she constantly do really dumb stuff and magically get herself out of it but otherwise she was a pretty fun character to read about. the twist towards the end about her and her family was great, yea you could kinda see something might be up but it was still interesting and her "predator side" was great! super spooky! and i cant wait to see if there are any lasting affects. the storyline in this book was great, i just loved the whole idea. there are a few books rather simular but i thought this one brang a just little extra something something to the mix. Reign of Blood wasnt to long, which is nice but i wouldnt of minded if it was just a bit longer, sometimes i got the feeling of details being left out, but if theres a next book im deff going to check it out :) - i just wanted to thank The Nexus group and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book
