Sue Towler

Biography

Elizabeth's Diaries; centered in New Zealand's high country, was my first published book. It took me 13 years and 13 rewrites before I felt comfortable enough to publish it. I had no intention of writing another book at the time.

Then, at the insistence of friends, family and readers I wrote the sequel- Brigit; - which is based in outback Australia and high country New Zealand. Although the outback and high country are vastly different terrains I am passionate about them both and I write from the heart about these fabulous and stunning places

My third novel, Isolation, is about a young couple who immigrate to New Zealand in the mid 1850's from England and eventually lease a run holding deep in the heart of the Canterbury high country. It is fact based fiction relating to the kind of life the high country folk endured and the hardships they faced during that era.

My fourth novel STITCHES is also an historic fiction tale, along similar lines to Isolation, and will be centered in Dunedin, New Zealand. On completion of the first draft of this book I sent it out for review and the overwhelming result was that I needed to expand more into some of my characters as they had their own interesting stories to tell. It is currently sitting in the wings waiting for that rewrite. I plan to get it out by the end of 2022.

In the meantime I felt I needed a break from the research and discipline of historic novel writing and that's when the idea for my next novel came along. SOUNDS BAD is a complete breakaway from rules and regulations and disciplines. I had so much fun with this one. It is irreverent, funny, dramatic and hopefully entertaining. I broke the rules - on purpose, the paragraph headings bear testimony to that. If you are looking for a light-hearted weekend read then this one fits the bill. Enjoy.

Novel number 6 is one that I could have written years ago but just never thought about it. It is about a group of Kiwi Senior Citizens on a bus tour through New Zealand. The characters and stories (which may or may not have happened) are a mish mash of the hundreds of people I have met and the adventures we have had together over a 15 year period in my capacity as a Tour Guide/Operator. I hope to have it finished by the end of this year (2022).

Thank you for taking the time to read my books, it is much appreciated. I welcome your feedback on my reviews page.

Kind regards
Sue

Smashwords Interview

Who are your favorite authors?
I love Philippa Gregory's books about period history, I have read about 7 or 8 of them so far. She has a wonderful talent of bringing her characters to life and mixing fact with fiction, which is something I like to bring into my writing as well.

I also love the way Diana Gabaldon writes - every sentence paints a picture - I have read most of her books with relish.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Running my own tour company - Susy's Tours, taking photos, reading and spending time with my family.
