I just finished reading this story and I have to say that I really liked it. I'm not usually a crime story fan, but this book was a quick summer read that really held my interest. The storyline of a "washed-up" detective who gets unwittingly caught up in a criminal enterprise is not particularly unique, but the author's development of the storyline and the characters -- along with the pacing of the story made for a good read. The culminating point in the story (which I won't reveal!) was quite exciting, and I also like that it was set in Mass./New England area.
