Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born and raised in upstate New York, on the Oneida River that through various systems, channels into Oneida Lake, and Lake Ontario. There were not many children around to play with, besides my four male cousins, so much of my time was spent reading. My father always bought a book for my birthday, and Christmas, and as I grew, so did my preferences. Soon I was receiving John Steinbeck, Oscar Wilde, and the complete works of William Shakespeare. I wrote short stories, and had a few published in the school newspapers, and a few poems were published in poetry books. I still love to read, everything, although I admit to being a fan of science fiction, fantasy and paranormal reads. Although I've written two mystery suspense thrillers, I am trying my first attempt at science fiction!
When did you first start writing?
I think around the second grade, I would write little stories. If my parents were to busy to read them, I would line up my barbie dolls, and act out the story through them! I loved writing poetry, and I would write about anything, my dog, the moon, the river,ect... I think I was the only child in forth grade who loved the idea of keeping a journal, which was our assignment. To this day, I keep a little pad and pencil with me, to jot down any ideas that pop into my head. Now for Christmas, I received books from everyone, along with notepads, pencils, and lots of support and encouragement from my family.
