My first taboo and now I'm obsessed. I'll list CWs at the bottom, but... You know what this book does NOT have? Non-con or attempted non-con of the omega. I could kiss this author. No sexual violence in an omegaverse? I would recommend this based on that fact alone. My favorite part, though, is how the mating occurs. Shiloh doesn't just kidnap then bite Riley to keep him safe. Oh no, he waits for permission. Shiloh gives Riley the choice to accept a bite or not, promising to protect Riley with his life regardless of Riley's decision, and that meant the world to me. This isn't a book about an omega getting mated "for his own good" then falling into love after falling into lust. This is the story of an omega who already loved his alpha with all his heart before getting thrown into a do or die circumstance. The love came first, then it transformed into something more once the bond came into play. I'm gushing, I know, but this is not what I expected from this book! Seriously, PNR /fantasy is my go to genre so I expected this book to fall short somewhere... But it didn't. World building, shifter dynamics, a plot that didn't depend on an omega getting SA'd, and well written sex were all there. Seriously, I'm actually quite impressed by how well the plot moves forward even with all the naughty bits scattered throughout. I'm also impressed with the author's writing. There's no juvenile dialogue or poorly crafted inner monologues, no exaggerated plot points to move the plot along or cause drama, and the villain was handled in a way that didn't leave me exasperated by all the build up. Read this, it's worth it, I promise. CWs- kidnapping, stalking, dub-con (heat sex, goes both ways), forced drug use of a side character (off page), abuse of side characters (off page), murder
