Elizabeth Butts

Biography

I can write almost 80,000 words, but my mind goes blank when I am asked to write about myself.

I'm thirty-eight years old (until July 28, 2016) and have written a whopping two books. My first book, Singleish, was published in May 2015. Secondhand Purses' release date is January 19th, 2016.

I live in West Wareham, Massachusetts with my husband and our twelve adopted pets. No, we are not hoarders. I had the good fortune to work at an animal shelter for five and a half years while we lived in Delaware, and this is a total occupational hazard.

I have been reading since i was three. My parents didn't realize that I knew how to read until one day I was in the back seat of the car letting them know things that were going on in my hometown of Middleboro, Massachusetts. When they asked how I knew this I explained that I'd read it in the paper. Since then, I've been devouring books. Mom wanted me to write, as well, but up till January 2015, I didn't have a book in me.

I work in Human Resources and Payroll. Nothing very exciting but incredibly time consuming. Anything else you want to know? Ask away! My email address is ebutts422@gmail.com.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the town of Middleboro, Massachusetts. I live in West Wareham, Massachusetts now. I absolutely love the south coast area of Massachusetts. The seasons are gorgeous, the people are great (despite what you may have heard), we have beaches, cranberry bogs and oh-so-much history! :)
When did you first start writing?
January 2015. Not kidding! In 2014, I had read "Broken" by A.E. Murphy (read it, please, if you haven't already!). When I got to the end, I read her "about the author" and was shocked to see that she was only 23 years old! YIKES! I was 36 and hadn't successfully written more than 2 pages! I emailed her, we became Friends over Facebook (she lives in England), and she asked me to be a beta reader. She kept telling me I should write a book. I kept patiently explaining that I didn't have a book in me. Finally, I decided to prove her wrong. Three months later, I finished Singleish.
