Drifter

It's short. Keep going. It's something I haven't seen for years, a scary science fiction story. Read it!
Solitary
on March 01, 2013
An unexplained event has resulted in parts of the northern US being emptied. (A zombie apocalypse without zombies.) People who return to this region do strange things.
This is a technically well-written story but it is GRIM,GRIM,GRIM. Sort of noir++.
I wish I had not read this before going to bed. Actually, I wish I hadn't it at all.
Lifeboats: Tales from the Evacuation
on May 23, 2013
Scientists warn the output of the sun will soon increase. Lifeboats describes one possible response.
The book is well written and the e-booking is good except for the strange symbols that mark the beginning and end of blocks inside chapters.
A very good read with a positive approach!
The Mendicant
on Aug. 15, 2013
Drunken ship engineer "wins" a ship with problems including a smart-ass AI. The story ends with "It's not home, not yet. But it can be."
This appears to be a prologue to a future novel. It' s well written, well e-booked. No humans or aliens blasted, no ships or stations blown up. I look forward to the book.

Relic Tech
on Nov. 07, 2013
Ervin has carefully crafted a universe with many different alien races competing for advantage. Corporations have replaced nation-states on Earth while individual humans have splintered into techs who augment the brains and bodies and relics who do not.
The book is well written, not so well ebooked (font size changes for reasons that don't seem obvious)
Good but grim book that will make think about the future.
