Biography

J Richard Knapp is an internationally recognized American author and speaker from the Pacific Northwest. His education includes degrees from the University of Oregon and Boise State university. Knapp is internationally recognized as a leader in education, bully prevention, and an author of many tween and young adult fiction books. What's the story behind your latest book?
The common thread that runs throughout my writing is an unrelenting belief that we as a society need to do more for our young girls in developing, encouraging and guiding them through the difficulties and hardships of making friends and just growing up. The reader will find that most of my books are written with strong lead female characters.
My latest publication is the fourth book in our 'Cow Pie Gang' series - 'Dear Hunter'. Co-authored with Shona Anderson, this series of books targets students between ages 11 - 14 in the categories of mystery, action, adventure, developing friendships, divorce, death, bullying, coming of age and much more! In the 'Dear Hunter' we wanted our lead female character to deal with the problems associated with a parent that leaves the family for a new life. A substory in this book deals with the courage needed to confront the bullying of a friend.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Simply put... I believe in controlling my work!
