Nikolay Yordanov

Biography

Nikolay Yordanov was born in Varna, Bulgaria. He is television, documentary and film screenwriter and creative producer, and has worked on such shows as Fear Factor, Star Academy, Psychic Challenge, Got Talent, X Factor, and Extreme Makeover. He has also worked on a variety of advertisements and music videos. "Notes from Hell" is his first book. Yordanov's next project, titled "Don't Tell Mama", is expected in 2017.

What's the story behind "Notes From Hell"?
It's a real story of five women who survived eight and a half years in the horror of Libya's prisons during Gaddafi ruling. They were accused of a horrible crime - infecting deliberately more than 400 kids with HIV virus. There are tons of explanations and theories what actually happened. I was curious to understand the point of view of one of these women, Valya Cherveniashka. And it truly IS a confession from a human being, who actually lived in hell.
Why you wanted to write this book?
It's a very powerful story, and I tried to never let the reader forget that it's not fiction. It really happened, Valya and the rest of her inmates actually survived in this unbelievable situation. They lived through eight and a half years of torture, pain, and constant fear of death. But, despite all, it's still a positive story about the power of the human spirit in extreme circumstances. For me that's inspiring.
